TheKnownWorldBookshop.com.au (“this website”) is a domain and website by Michelle Coxall, sole trader, of Ballarat, Victoria Australia, ABN 261 273 84705.

This website provides information about the books and other items held by The Known World Bookshop, and its online partners, Abe Books and eBay.

While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, you must understand and accept that, like any retail business, stock can change at any time, and while frequent updates are made to this website, no guarantee can be given that a particular item will be available when requested.

We take huge pride in our beautiful bookshop and the books it contains. Every book is cleaned before being shelved, thoughtfully repaired where necessary and books with dust jackets are, with only a few exceptions, covered in a protective sheath of removable library-quality mylar.

Not all of the books on the shelves here at the Known World are listed on Abe Books or eBay, but many are.

We endeavour to describe any flaws or defects as carefully and precisely as possible when listing a book.

• A book described as ‘Fine’ means that the book is in as-new condition.
• A ‘Very Good’ copy means that the book may have a little foxing or evidence of age, perhaps a previous owner’s name or inscription. The jacket may have small closed tears and possibly a few chips.
• A ‘Good’ copy means that there are probably more significant tears or loss to the jacket, perhaps heavy foxing, or even annotations.
• A ‘Fair’ copy is usually a reading copy, and would probably not be of interest to the dedicated collector. As far as is practicable, all flaws are noted in the book’s description. Having said that, it is possible that the book may have a flaw that we haven’t discovered or identified.

It goes without saying that we carefully package books for secure posting, and endeavour to post the books out the same day that the order is received, or on the next working day.

There is quite a lot of thought and effort undertaken to describe books as accurately as possible. It is also time-consuming to package books carefully and bring them to the post office. We don’t want disappointed customers, so you can be assured that our books are described in good faith and as accurately as possible.

Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us. If you believe the book does not match the description given when it was listed, we offer a full refund, including the cost of any postage incurred, payable on return of the book.
